QUOTES
ABOUT CADILLAC SKY:
When the first strains of Cadillac Sky's "Born Lonesome"
come pulsing out of the speakers, it's immediately apparent
that there's a different kind of roots band on the scene—one
wrapped in tradition, but not bound by it. That song, which
opens their Skaggs Family Records debut, Blind Man Walking,
has a high, lonesome sound that would do the great Ralph
Stanley proud. And when they follow that up with "You
Again," a song where they display the ferocious intensity
of the great rock and roll bands, it's obvious Cadillac
Sky is a band poised for greatness.
Their propulsive brand of roots music is the perfect marriage
of tradition and innovation. This original approach comes
from a deep-seated respect for tradition wrapped around
an unbridled musical curiosity. There's no dichotomy in
the band's sound, just a synthesis of the band's eclectic
influences.
It only takes a quick listen to the band's debut to hear
a band on the verge of greatness. But there's something
else that sets the band apart, something that may not be
immediately apparent. There is an understated spirituality
that infuses everything the band does. It's one of the things
that drew Ricky Skaggs to Cadillac Sky's music and ultimately
resulted in signing them to Skaggs Family Records.
Cadillac Sky are believers—not only in their faith,
but in the power of great music. They know music makes a
difference. That's why they worked so hard to craft the
heart-and-soul-stirring songs that make up Blind Man Walking.
It's an amazing debut that heralds the arrival of a brand
new star in the musical world. Believe.

"When I heard Cadillac Sky for the first time,
I heard some of the freshest new music I had heard in a
long time. Their vocals just killed me, and they have a
new sound. They're great!" - Ricky Skaggs

"This
quintet offers a mountain of musical riches: close harmony
singing, propulsive melodies with innovative tempo changes,
hot banjo picking from Matt Menefee and intriguing original
material from the pen of the group's lead singer and mandolin
player, Bryan Simpson.”
- Chicago Sun-Times
"C-Sky forges a powerful sound with rich lead singing,
engaging composing, whip-crack instrumental precision, soulful
harmonies, and an attention to arranging that dazzles without
distracting."
- Bluegrass Unlimited
"...if you're talking about power, authority and
raising the bar the way the Revival did in the 20th century,
that's precisely what Cadillac Sky is doing in the 21st.”
- Dave Higgs, Nashville Public Radio
